Action Figure Action Movie or A.F.A.M. is the stop motion web series that imagines big budget action films as if they were starring action figures. Partly inspired by Robot Chicken, A.F.A.M. is less of a sketch comedy show and more of an homage to hard hitting, high octane, action movies.

Created by Lon Lopez and Rob Wilson, A.F.A.M., uses painstaking traditional stop motion animation with some digital overlays and the process can be long and arduous. Not only do Lopez and Wilson create original characters from modified store bought figures, they also create all the custom dioramas and set pieces.

Originally created as a stop motion test, the first A.F.A.M. film, The Setback, was an instant hit, debuting at the Branham High School film fest. It then went on to be accepted to the Action on Film Fest, The Wizard World Film Fest and The Famous Monsters Film Fest, where it won Best Short Animation.

Later that year, The Setback was featured on the front page of pop culture fan site, Ain’t it Cool News. The Setback follows the story of a wealthy cabal of businessmen who try to take an impoverished city by force to build a pipeline. However their plans meet a minor setback – the legendary soldier and crusader for justice, Super Weapon.

Inspired by The Setback’s success, Lopez outlined an enormous ten part A.F.A.M. saga and the boys went back to the production table. A.F.A.M. Chap. 2 or C.O.B.A.L.T. as it’s more popularly known, tells the story of an agent recounting events that took place when her team engaged a terrorist cell to reclaim a dangerous chemical.

C.O.B.A.L.T. was accepted to many film fests and conventions as well and was ultimately selected to appear on Robert Rodriquez’s El Rey Network as part of their People’s Network Showcase Action Edition.

TBNT Productions is currently hard at work on A.F.A.M. Chap. 3 which is tentatively titled, Johnny Tan’s Furious Gospel and Good Time Revival. Chap. 3 tells the story of small time gang leader, Johnny Tan as he finds himself defending his church-turned-bar, The Gospel, from: a rival gang leader, a horde of the undead and his ex wife, all in one crazy night.
